Altar Society/Women Caring and Sharing
The nickname Women Caring and Sharing expresses our function within the parish, while continuing the rich history in the St Peter Altar Society name. Our focus continues to be service to the parish to participate where we are able. We meet from September to May on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Bishops Room @ 7:00 pm.
An on-going function of our group is taking care of the funeral luncheons for our parish members. We rely on volunteers to help with setting tables, serving the food, and clean-up, including dish-washing. We encourage anyone to sign up and to be placed on a rotating call list when helpers are needed. Many hands make light work.
The Spring Bazaar is an important fund raiser to help various needs of the priests and parish, such as purchase vestments and other church items. Our bazaar provided a $4,000 contribution toward replacement of our 40 year old dishwasher.
Our December project is Christmas cookies for shut-ins. We provide home-made goodies and meet to package them together and enjoy fellowship. This replaces a regular meeting on the 2nd Tuesday for the month of December.
On occasion we are asked to provide baked goods for church functions. If you are willing to bake for these events, please let us know so we can have your name on a calling list to fill that need. This list may also be used for our spring bazaar.
We receive from our parish community various requests for help and would like to accommodate these when given enough time to plan and to contact our volunteers.
