The Profession of Faith: Evangelizing

Knowing Meeting Responding to God

We begin our profession of faith by saying: "I believe" or "We believe." We must ask what "to believe" means. Faith is the human response to God who has revealed Himself and given Himself to each of us. It involves a process of searching for God, meeting God, and finally responding in faith. The following parish programs assist people who are in various stages of belief:

Faith Formation

Little Church Ages 4-6 years old, during the school year, Sunday mornings during 10 a.m. Mass. Learn prayer, receive a scripture activity and music geared to their ages during the Liturgy of the Word and rejoin their parents in church for the remainder of the Liturgy. Volunteer leaders are supported by the Faith Formation Coordinator.

Liturgy of the Word Ages 6-10, during the school year Sunday mornings during 10 a.m. Mass. Children in first grade and upward are dismissed by the priest just prior to the reading of the Word. Their leader shares the scripture readings in words they can understand. Volunteer leaders are led and supported by the Faith Formation Coordinator.

Elementary Faith Formation Grades 1-5, Monday afternoon 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Sacramental preparation for Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Holy Eucharist is in second grade. Volunteer catechists are led and supported by the Faith Formation Coordinator.

Middle School Faith Formation Grades 6-8, EverySunday 7:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. Volunteer catechists are led and supported by the Faith Formation Coordinator.

Life Nights Grades 9-12, Sunday evenings following the 6 p.m. LIFETEEN Mass is Life Night - religious instruction and activities with volunteer "core team" leaders and youth ministers, led and supported by the Faith Formation Coordinator, Priests and Deacons.

Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Program for mentally challenged through grade 12. Children learn about God’s love and prepare for the sacraments through this special program. Available for home study.

Fr. Marquette Catholic Schools (Elementary and Middle) Accredited schools integrate the teaching of the Catholic faith into the entire school program. Parents play an active role in school activities. Supported by area parishes and tuition.

Education Commission meets monthly to offer vision and support for all aspects of evangelization and formation for the total parish. It also coordinates the "Cathedral Series" speakers which are oriented to adult faith formation.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) Thursday evenings, 11:30 Sunday Mass. This is the way the Church welcomes unbaptized adults into the Catholic Church. The process is concerned with total formation of the person into believing with the Church community, living with the Church community, praying with the Church community, and serving with the Church community. This faith journey culminates in the celebration of the initiation sacraments at Easter time. Some participants are baptized and participate in RCIA to complete their initiation into the Catholic Church. Volunteer Sponsors/Mentors and Catechists are essential to this ministry.
